Hospital Humaniza

Customer: CCG Saúde

Scope: Interior Concept Design and Wayfinding, Interior Architecture Project, Wayfinding Project

A Welcoming Look in Hospital Architecture

The Centro Clínico Gaúcho, or CCG Saúde, is one of the largest health plans in Rio Grande do Sul, which has been accelerating and consistently growing its customer base. This significant growth motivated the execution of the largest project in its history – the CCG Humaniza Hospital.

The challenge: to inaugurate a new hospital in 12 months (in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic), starting from an existing building originally constructed for independent medical offices. Distributed across a basement, ground floor, 7 typical floors, plus two garage floors, totaling approximately 15,000m² of Interior Architecture and Signage.

R4DESIGN led the entire Concept Design process, from the healthcare hospitality strategy, distribution of the needs program, interior architecture of all spaces, technical development in response to all technical and legal requirements, initial specification of finishes, in-line and custom furniture, and lighting, in addition to the complete wayfinding project covering more than 2,500 elements.
The project enabled 200 clinical beds, 20 individual ICU beds (CTI), a Surgical Center with 10 operating rooms and a Hemodynamics unit, 24-hour Emergency Room, in addition to Specialty Clinical Centers.
The project strategy sought reference in contemporary reception and hotel spaces to create light and optimistic environments, without abandoning the austerity and precision that are central attributes of CCG Saúde. To this end, the chromatic palette combines proprietary colors, applied in shades that are sometimes more, sometimes less saturated, according to their destination in the project. Wood finishes were adopted for their evocation of warmth and comfort. From the combination of these materials, along with the complex environmental graphic design project, contemporary, comfortable, and highly functional spaces emerge.

The Humaniza Hospital met all the client's environmental and operational expectations and was inaugurated in June/2021. Its presence within the CCG Saúde service mix broadly qualified the health service portfolio provided by the Health Plan. This facility also confirmed itself as an important asset of the company which, a few months after the hospital's inauguration, was acquired by the Grupo NotreDame Intermédica, marking its entry into the Rio Grande do Sul market.
